Hans Christian Andersen may just be Denmark’s most famous export (apart from the pastries of course!) and his statue inspired by his fairytale The Little Mermaid, is perhaps Copenhagen’s most famous sight. I couldn’t believe the sheer volume of tourists gathered at the edge of the coast line to see this rather tiny lady curled up on a rock, but I must admit, to see her there luring in the seamen is quite a magical experience – but go early, as it’s a much better one when you’re not surrounded by camera flashes!
