On a recent trip to Bangkok I stayed just off Sukhumvit Rd and loved walking along there watching all the crazy drivers, feeling the breeze from tuk tuks whizzing past, and scoping out my next street food hit. I took this photo walking into one of the BTS stations which snakes the line of Sukhumvit Rd from the centre of the city, towering high above the road providing some much appreciated shade. I love the different colours of the taxis in this shot, and I definitely felt like it was a symbol for the city – wild, unpredictable and eclectic – that I had to capture.

Cool shot! The taxis almost look like pieces of gum in the shape of cars. How colorful!
Thanks! : ) Yeah – Ive never seen taxi’s like them anywhere – makes me kind of wish London’s cabs were a slightly happier shade!
Yes Bangkok taxis are really colorful. I love the magenta colored cabs. They’re great when you need to get some place where the BTS/MRT doesn’t go…especially the twisty Sois. Although it sucks to get stuck in BKK traffic.
Yes – the traffic is mad! The air conditioned cabs can be a welcome retreat though if you’ve been on the back of a tuk tuk all day!
Thanks for stopping by! : )
wow..very colourful taxis.. and it does look like jelly beans 😉
My wife taught in Bangkok for a year before moving back home to Australia so I have lots of great memories of Sukhumvit Road. Its such a fantastic place to visit and the people are so friendly.
Hey Spencer, thanks for stopping by! Yes – Bangkok is a crazy place, I cant wait to return – I bet you both loved living there!
Very cool shot. Love the colors!
Thanks Kim! : )
