Indians love their cricket. This quickly become apparent to us from flicking through the never-ending number of 24/7 cricket channels on Indian TV, and also from the fact that virtually everywhere you turned, someone was either holding a bat, ball or set of wickets. eagerly awaiting their next over.
While wandering the sprawling grounds of the Indian monument in New Delhi, we were mobbed by a group of young cricket bat toting boys who were keen to find out where we were from. Upon hearing the word ‘Australia’, the names of Aussie cricketers were excitedly thrown at us and we were quickly propositioned for a game. Mike took to the wicket with the bat while I egged on the boys to bowl him out, but alas, the ball was smacked into the air, with the boys laughing and chasing after it. Deafeated, the boys continued their game while we continued our walk, awaiting our next cricketing challenge from the locals – Aussies 1, India 0.

I am always so surprised how popular cricket is in India, I mean, they LOVE it. It seems to be one of those things that the Brits introduced but now I’m sure the Indians love it more than they do.
