The amount of traffic in Cairo and Giza puts any Western city to shame – the beeping, the swerving – and if you manage to come home without a cough from the smog, you’re doing well. When I visited Giza I stayed on the busiest road which leads to the Pyramids, Al Ahram, and the stunning view from the rooftop bar allowed for some spectacular photos – particularly at dusk when the smog would rise into the atmosphere with the last glimpses of the sun peeking through and creating some magical colours. I love the contrast in this photo of the heavily populated highway along with the Pyramids looming in the background – prehistoric and modern, together as one.

The contrast between the modern and the old is very mind numbing if you really think about it. Great shot!
Thanks so much – yeah I guess it is pretty mind numbing, I bet the people building the pyramids never imagined what would surround them thousands of years later and the amazement they would cause all over the world!
Thanks! I loved Cairo – I hope you get a chance to visit sometime after everything hopefully returns to peace soon!
I think orange is the most beautiful color the nature can produce. The best time to see it and enjoy it is also at sunset, specially when it’s got such historical sights in the background. I love this photo.

Thank you very much!
I agree with you about orange being a beautiful colour – theres something about the way it mixes with the pink here that is very calming I think.
