Five Ways to Stay Active on Holiday

People always ask, when you go on holiday, do you lose weight or gain weight? And for the most part it tends to be the latter. A lot of the time you can’t help it, you’re in the holiday mind set and you want to let loose as much as possible, this goes for how much you eat, how much you drink and how much relaxation you can possibly fit into a day. But there comes a point, especially if you have been on holiday for a couple of weeks, where simply relaxing begins to become a little boring and you start to get itchy feet.

If you have children it is imperative to be constantly setting a good example for them and this applies to your holiday time too. Here are five ways to keep you and your family active whilst on holiday:

1)      Water parks – There are some amazing water parks around Europe including Caneva World in Italy, Star Beach in Crete, Sommarland in Sweden and Aqualandia in Benidorm. Water parks are the perfect day activity, many of them have cafes and outdoor food stalls so you can stay there all day. There is generally something for everyone and you have the peace of mind knowing the kids can go off alone without getting lost. Also, with all the swimming, climbing stairs for big slides and walking around the park you will have had a great work out!

2)      Golfing – It may not be for everyone but if you have a family that may be interested in the sport golf breaks in France with Your Golf Travel may be an idea for you to consider. Golf is a really accessible sport and is known to be a great stress reliever. Yourgolftravel.com have resorts all over Europe so you can pick your resort and tee off when you like.

3)      Skiing – Obviously skiing is one on its own; you generally book a holiday with the activity in mind but while you are in the mountains, don’t forget, there are many other winter sports you can get involved with: snowboarding, ice skating and tobogganing for example.

4)      Hawking – If you happen to be interested in birds of prey there are loads of activity centres that offer intensive courses in hawking. It’s a great day out and you learn a lot about our winged friends. You get a lot of exercise and fresh air while watching these majestic animals at work.

5)      Go-Karting – You may not think you are doing much exercise while careering around a race course but your legs will tell you a different story the next day. You can take the whole family and have a real fun day out.
