Yay – it’s finally 2012! New year, new beginnings, lots of motivation – all that good stuff! If you’re like me you’re feeling super pumped and motivated at the moment, and are soaking up as much inspiration and useful information as you can possibly cram in.
I like to spend a few days at the start of the year to compile some motivational ammunition to see me through the year – whether that be things I want to achieve, pictures that inspire me, or blogs that drive me to succeed. And, as I finished putting together my inspiration arsenal for the year just last night, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite location independent blogs – add them to your ‘must read’ list of 2012 and prepare to be seriously kicked in the pants by what these people have achieved, and what you know you can achieve too!
Happy reading, and all the best with your location independent goals for the year!
Location Liberated – If you are scared of going against the grain of a career, house, picket fence and buying a million possessions you know you don’t need, then Adam and Heather’s blog is one you need to read NOW! They have a truly humbling story to tell, and they tell it with humour and wisdom. One of my all time favourites.
Thrilling Heroics – What hasn’t Cody McKibben done, and done well for that matter?! This guy has some impressive achievements under his belt, and his love for entrepreneurship really comes across in his blog – its definitely one of the most exciting reads out there!
CorbettBarr.com – A beautiful looking site, and an endless supply of useful articles, anecdotes and inspirational posts. What more do we need?!
Nomad Couch – Juha’s site provides loads of interesting location independent entrepreneur interviews and articles about specific jobs and ideas for your new nomadic life.
Tropical MBA – Want to be paid to travel the world as a location independent entrepreneur? That’s just what Dan is offering through this site – the chance to learn, network with like-minded people and get your foot firmly planted on the nomadic career ladder. What are you waiting for?!

Thanks, I found this site on Reddit. There are a of couple Digital Nomad sites I haven’t come across before here, Nomad Couch and Location Liberated.
Wow, those are some good ones. I actually hadn’t even considered the location independent niche prior to seeing your post. Very cool and motivational.
Thanks Mike, definitely check it out!
Hey Jeff, thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the sites! : )
Hey thanks for the huge shout!!! 😀
No worries!
I’d throw in Sean Ogle’s site: location180.com too. That’s what got me started! Otherwise good roundup but it’s a shame not to feature more smaller-scale bloggers much like yourself on a list like this.
Wow, thanks for including me in the company of these fine gents (and of course, Heather too)!
I’m so bummed by the fact that I haven’t personally met with the guys (yet!). I actually planned to meet Cody on my latest Thailand trip, but somehow we missed the chance to meetup.. sucks. I hope we can correct the situation soon though as we plan to travel to SE Asia once again later this year.
Once again, I’m honored to get mentioned in this group and Like Will said in his comment, there’s a fine lady called Nicole missing from the list! 😉
Regarding Nomad Couch, the blog is currently going through a major update (both graphic and content vise) and the next post (along with the big update) is going live within the next few weeks. Hope to see you all dropping by when that happens!
I wish everyone a fantastic 2012 and the best of success with everything you decide to accomplish this year. Cheers!
Hi Juha, no worries at all – a very deserved inclusion! : ) All the best for this year – looking forward to seeing where you take the new-ly designed site! : )
So nice to see a list that has some blogs on it that I’ve never heard of – so tired of seeing the same lists with the same blogs. As I’ve been location independent myself for 6 years, I’ll definitely be checking these ones out. Thanks!
Hi Lara, good to hear! I plan on a follow up post with some more blogs – I definitely agree about wanting to read some new stuff! : )
Thanks. A few I haven’t heard of yet. I’ve been location independent for about a year now…but it has definitely been challenging.
Hey Stephen, I hear you! Good on you for making the shift though, all the best! : )
