It’s so secret that I love New York, but what specifically do I love about it? Well – here it is! This by no means covers all the weird and wonderful things you can do there, but if you’re like me and enjoy food, drinks and ‘something a bit different’ then this is the list for you.
- Order your meat by the pound at Fette Sau in Brooklyn – go with a big appetite, its crazy good!
- Shun the well-trodden Empire State route and visit the dizzying heights of ‘Top of The Rock’ and amaze yourself with the concrete wonder that is New York City – Empire State views included!
- Find out what Meg Ryan was ‘Ahh’-ing about in When Harry Met Sally by ordering some of the city’s finest Pastrami at Katz’s Deli.
- Navigate your way through the hidden phone box in St Marks Place and try some of the city’s most original cocktails at bar PDT (Please Don’t Tell).
- See the real-life TV and movie locations for classics like Ghostbusters, The Cosby’s, Sex and the City and so much more with On Location Tours – I highly recommend these guys if you want to see the show-business side of the city!
- For a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants view of the city, head to South Street Seaport for a helicopter ride that will take your breath away!
- Walk the streets of the Lower East Side taking in the street art, people and many eclectic restaurants and cafes.
- Watch the world go by from one of the tables in Bryant Park – you can even play some ping-pong if you get bored!
- Eat an authentic diner breakfast – Get your fill of French toast, pancakes, sausages, bacon and eggs at any of the great family run diners found pretty much on every block in the city.
- Immerse yourself in the craziness of Times Square – stand in the thick of it for half an hour and you’ll either go mad or never want to leave!
- Frolic in Central Park and wonder how the hell so many big dogs can fit on an island of apartments.
- Stroll over Brooklyn Bridge heading towards Manhattan at night (hand in hand if you can find a willing suitor) – simply stunning.
- Inhale your weight in cupcakes at the original Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street – then find a nice square of grass in a nearby park to curl up on while you sleep off your sugar-coma.
- Experience Michelin star NYC at Eleven Madison Park – The best meal I’ve ever eaten was here, so if you want to splash out, look no further.
- Finally, my favourite thing to do in NYC is to walk. Walk everywhere you can, and take it all in. It really is like nowhere else in the world.
If you want to calm down and take a break from all the excitement with adrenaline pumping activities in NYC, you can sit back and enjoy fun online casinos while recharging for tomorrow’s busy day.
